10 Years in the Making - Instructor to Teacher

This post really should have been written a long time ago but life always has a tendency to get in the way; but not this time not even the pandemic is going to stop me this time (hopefully!).

I have been working in education for 10 amazing years and I first started out as a cover supervisor - a supply teacher who is based in the same school at all times. I decided to take this job as I was fresh out of university and wanting to gain classroom experience prior to  applying to teacher training. Then Darcie decided to make an appearance, Jamie’s career took off, we got married and Henry came along too! An opportunity came up at work to become an instructor of art - I was already heavily involved in the department and knew this was my calling. The school I’m in is more than just a job. Every part of me is dedicated to that place and I couldn’t imagine leaving. I was so established, loved my coworkers and my students are pretty incredible too... the thought of having to leave all that behind to effectively start again, from scratch, absolutely terrified me. Thankfully, my school found a way of keeping me and get me qualified... it was literally like all my christmases had come at once!

So, whilst teaching from home in our virtual learning school I began the process of applying - height of pandemic. I felt such a huge wave of nerves and completely doubted myself, however on hindsight the whole process has actually really affirming. I know my strengths, whilst this is something I should have done a long time ago - I actually feel now is the perfect time and I’m so ready for this!
