Best Websites to Support GCSE Revision
If you are helping a teen prepare for GCSEs, finding the right revision support can make a huge difference. As a secondary school teacher, I know just how stressful this can be and I’m here to help you help them. The best websites do more than just provide facts. They help students build confidence, practise exam technique, and revise in a way that feels manageable.
In this guide, I am sharing some of the best websites that can support GCSE revision across a range of subjects, whether your child prefers videos, quizzes, past papers, or structured study notes. This guide will empower you to support your children through one of the most important phases of school.

Why online revision tools can help
Every student learns differently. Some prefer short videos, while others need practice questions or printable notes. Using a mix of trusted revision websites can help students:
- revisit tricky topics at their own pace
- practise exam-style questions
- build confidence before mock exams and final papers
- make revision feel a little less overwhelming
Best websites for GCSE revision
1. BBC Bitesize
BBC Bitesize is often the first stop for GCSE revision, and for good reason. It covers a wide range of subjects and breaks topics down into clear, manageable sections. The content is easy to follow and ideal for students who need a simple explanation before moving on to harder questions.
Best for: Clear topic summaries and beginner-friendly revision
2. Seneca Learning
Seneca Learning is popular with many secondary school students because it turns revision into short, interactive tasks. It is especially useful for keeping students engaged when motivation is low. The platform uses quick questions and repetition to help key facts stick.
Best for: Interactive revision and regular knowledge recall
3. Cognito
Cognito is a great option for students who like visual learning. It offers short videos, quizzes, and concise explanations across science and maths topics in particular. It can be a helpful resource for breaking down more difficult concepts into something easier to understand.
Best for: Science and maths revision with videos and quizzes
4. Save My Exams
Save My Exams is well known for its revision notes, practice questions, and exam-style resources. It is especially useful for students who want structured support and plenty of opportunities to test themselves. It can work well alongside classroom learning and independent study.
Best for: Revision notes and exam question practice
5. Physics & Maths Tutor
Despite the name, Physics & Maths Tutor now offers resources for a range of GCSE subjects. It is particularly valuable for students who want access to past papers, worksheets, and topic-based questions. This is a strong choice for those focusing on exam technique.
Best for: Past papers, worksheets, and targeted question practice
6. Quizlet
Quizlet can be a brilliant tool for students who revise well using flashcards. It allows them to create their own sets or use existing ones made by other students and teachers. It is especially helpful for subjects that involve key terms, definitions, quotes, or vocabulary.
Best for: Flashcards, memory recall, and quick revision sessions
7. YouTube revision channels
There are many excellent YouTube channels that support GCSE revision, especially for English, maths, and science. Channels such as Mr Bruff, Freesciencelessons, and Maths Genie are often recommended by students and teachers alike. These can be useful for revisiting topics in a more relaxed and accessible way.
Best for: Students who learn well through video explanations
How to choose the right revision website
Not every website will suit every child, and that is completely normal. When choosing revision tools, it helps to think about:
- which subjects need the most support
- whether your child prefers reading, watching, or answering questions
- how confident they feel working independently
- whether they need help learning content or practising exam technique
A combination of two or three strong resources is often more effective than trying to use everything at once.
Final thoughts
The best GCSE revision websites are the ones that make studying feel clear, focused, and achievable. Whether your child needs short videos, interactive quizzes, or access to past papers, there are plenty of brilliant tools available online to support them.
The key is to keep revision realistic, consistent, and tailored to the way your child learns best. With the right support in place, exam season can feel a little less stressful for everyone.

I could have done with a couple of these revision-type websites when I was doing my GCSE’s all those years ago! I remember using BBC Bitesize for Maths!

These are such great resources! Every child learns differently, and it’s important to take that into consideration.
This is such a huge help. There really is no one-size-fits-all approach for kids, so this is awesome.
I forget how much has changed since I did exam prep and we just had books and past papers. I’m sure it’s all going to change again before my little one takes her exams haha x
I am going to save this – my teen is currently studying now. We use BBC Bitesize but will definitely check out the other websites as online revision really helps so much!
This is such a helpful list, especially for parents trying to support their children through exams. It’s good having everything in one place to make it a bit less overwhelming.

I love all these resources, very very helpful! Thank you so much. I am flipping your post to my nephew. Super helpful. Thank you.
The resources available these days are really helpful. My girls use a fair few of these themselves especially Cognito and Physics and Maths Tutor. The YouTube revision channels are also really helpful. In addition, mine follow some pages on TikTok specifically for the level they are studying at and find they can be helpful too.
