When an invitation to visit BeWILDerwood appeared in my inbox, a little squeal of excitement immediately leaped out of me. This place is an outdoor haven for children and parents alike, an imaginative adventure park with magical treehouses and characters that bring a curious difference to the Norfolk Broads. This is the setting for the book, “A Boggle at BeWILDerwood” by local author Tom Blofield. Having been before when Darcie was just two, I knew she would love it even more second time around and that little bit older. The main reason for our visit was the review the Glorious Glowing Lantern parade, and true to form, it didn’t disappoint.
We were advised to arrive a little later in the day as the parade didn’t start until dusk (around 6pm), so to ensure that we got all the activities done and the children didn’t get burnt out, we arrived at around 1:30pm. This was pretty perfect timing, no cues to enter and we were able to enjoy everything without feeling rushed.
When we arrived, Darcie spotted face painting and immediately asked if she could have her’s done, of course, it was a must, particularly as it’s included in the price. Lot’s of Halloween themed face painting was available and Darcie decided to go for a pumpkin.
Then it was time to explore the tree houses, walk ways and slides….
As well as enjoying all the thrilling heights and dare devil’ish slides, the story telling, characters (and staff) are what make this place truly magical. Bringing the stories to life with the added spookiness of Halloween for good measure, makes this a truly enjoyable experience for even the youngest of guests. Henry, being only one, absolutely loved characters such as Snagglefang and even got up close with him!
Once we’d finished all of the play areas, we decided to make our lantern ready for the parade. This is also all included in the price of the ticket and you get everything you could possibly need to make a glorious masterpiece.
It was actually really nice to just sit down and craft, enjoying the surroundings – we all got involved too! Darcie was pretty chuffed with hers, which now has pride of place in her bedroom.
Once our lanterns were ready, we had a little bit of time before the evening festivities. So we headed down to the swaps for a boat ride and more story telling. Henry enjoyed snuggling up with his Grandad learning all about their world.
Then, it was time for The Glowious Glowing Lantern Parade. Snagglefang (Henry’s favourite) kicks things off with a poem, then you’re lead through the dark with your lantern to guide the way to meet Slitherigrubs, withches, Thorneycold Spiders and Darcie’s favourite Swampy! The whole walk was done beautifully, with stunning lighting, spooky fog and everyone’s favourites from the books – it’s definitely the perfect way to end your visit and kick things off for Halloween.
If you want to enjoy the wonders of BeWILDerwood and the magic of The Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade then you need to be quick. The last day of the parade and of the season is Sunday 30th October. It’s not to be missed.

(image) It’s a scene familiar to many parents. No sooner have you put the kids to bed, you then start to hear the pitter patter of tiny feet. Soon after, you hear the creaking of the stairs. And just after that, you hear your little darlings shouting down…
I originally wrote about this topic when I had just attended a baby massage course with Darcie when she was a baby. Baby massage is something I am now enjoying with Henry so I thought I would go over why should you give baby massage a go too.

For 2022 this topic is well and truly at the forefront of my mind, we are hoping that this year will be the year that we find our next home. The property searches are well on their way. The process, whilst in its early stages, is proving difficult….
It’s a question that most children will probably ask their pregnant mothers and perhaps it’s a question that you may dread. Just how exactly should you answer it? In truth there is no right or wrong way to answer this question when your child asks. It’s entirely up…
Every child has creativity within them. It often shows up in the way they play, the questions they ask, the stories they tell and the ideas they come up with when given the time and space to explore. As parents, we do not need to force creativity or…
