Blending spree!

So today I have been busy making Darcie's food and thought it might be nice to share with you how I go about making her purée's.

I will use apple as an example

To start wash thoroughly the fruit or veg, we don't want any nasties in these precious purée's!

Peel the fruit or veg and when doing things like apple make sure the core and pips are removed too. Then slice into small chunks.

Add fruit/veg to a microwave safe container and add enough cooled boiled water to cover the fruit/veg. Then place microwave safe cling film over the container leaving a corner open to vent.

Then steam. Timing will depend on fruit or veg.

Drain the excess liquid. Then add fruit/veg to a blender. Add cooled boiled water or milk (again amounts will vary depending on the fruit or veg- best to add less to begin adding more I needed so it doesn't become too water) and blend!

Then add to a freezer safe container or ice cube trays (I use both- boots make some handy small container which are perfect for the first stages of weaning).

The beauty of making your own purée's is that, one, they are cheap and two, they can last up to a month in the freezer!!

There any a number of ways of makin your own purée's but this is the one I have found works for me.
