Question to all Mummy's (and Daddy's)

Its a question regarding sleep...

Lately Darcie sleep has become a little bit of an issue again, over the last week she has had a few nights where she has simply not been tired enough to go to bed! When I sat and thought about it tonight it occurred to me that on the nights that she has been good and gone to bed at her normal time, (between 6.30-7.00) she only had one nap during the day. On the days that she has had two naps, she has gone to bed as late as 10.30 pm!

Does this mean that she perhaps needs to stop her afternoon nap?

She still seems so young to me to be dropping a nap, at what age did my lovely readers drop any naps??

Thanks guys

  1. yes, probably i have had this conversation with my health visitor. My son wont go to sleep early its always at least ten every night! He has no nap in the day, he's 3 by the way, and he gets up at 7am. Hes been like this for about a year now! lol My HV just thinks he doesn't need a lot of sleep.
hope you find a better solution than me!

    1. Hey, thank you for your reply!! It may be a question that I ask my HV when I get a chance (working loads at the moment... boo!)but I have a feeling she is just growing up and needing less sleep! Going to get Jamie to only give her one nap tomorrow whilst Im at work and see what happens!

Will check out your blog now :)

  2. If she seems happy to only have one nap a day and it means she (and you) gets a good nights sleep then I don't see anything wrong with her just having one nap a day :)Either that or don't let her sleep for too long in the afternoon xx

    1. Thanks for the comment! Yeah perhaps I could try that too, I was thinking if I moved her morning nap later aswell that might help with the change... xxx

How much sleep is she having during the day nap wise? I half heartily try and follow gina ford (I'm good at the feeding routine but mason has other ideas about the afternoon nap) she says that between 9-12 months they don't need any more than 2-2 1/2 maximum daily sleep! Half an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon! I say this but I too have been having trouble with mason the last few weeks, I'm thinking it's due to teeth, conjunctivitis and a cold (I'm praying it's that and this is not a phase)! X

    1. Christ Darcie never sleeps that much during the day! She has about 20 mins in the morning and an hour in the afternoon and thats if she has two naps! Darcie is teething again too... Im also concerned she may have caught chicken pox... found a couple of spots and its going around her nursery... all might be to do with it! Hope you guys are ok We really really must see you soon!! xxx p.s I hate Gina Ford lol xxx

  4. I think you're right, she's ready to go to 1 sleep a day (many babies do that by a year old), but you may find she doesn't drop it completely. Not explaining myself very well there: I mean, she will need an afternoon nap every couple of days or so, gradually those times will extend until one day you'll think, gosh, haven't had an afternoon nap for days...
