Little Luxuries: Dainty Rings & Everyday Pick-Me-Ups That Make Mum Life Brighter

Let’s face it, being a mum is wonderful, but it’s also a lot. The juggle of school runs, packed lunches, bedtime routines, and all the little things in between often means that we put ourselves last. Somewhere between the nappy changes and after-school snacks, our sense of self can quietly take a back seat.

But recently, I’ve started making a conscious effort to bring a few small, joyful habits back into my day. These aren’t grand gestures; they’re little luxuries. Simple, affordable things that help me reconnect with myself, lift my mood, and remind me that I'm not just a mum. I’m still me too.

One of my favourite rediscoveries? Delicate stackable gold rings that add a touch of everyday elegance. There’s something empowering about slipping one on, even when your outfit is just leggings and a hoodie. They’re subtle, timeless, and stylish—perfect for everyday wear and those rare “out-out” occasions alike. A few of these dainty rings layered together bring just the right amount of sparkle to a busy mum’s life.

But of course, jewellery isn’t the only small joy that makes a big difference. Here are a few more little luxuries that help me feel a little more me, even on the most chaotic days.

1. Clothes That Feel Like a Hug

Let’s be honest, comfort is key. Gone are the days I’d squeeze into something just because it looked good. Now, I’m all about elevated basics that are as comfy as they are stylish.

Oversized knits, well-cut joggers, floaty cotton shirts, these are my wardrobe heroes. I love the simplicity of throwing together an outfit that feels good without needing too much thought. If you’re looking for elevated, everyday essentials that still feel luxurious, & Other Stories has some beautiful pieces that work hard without trying too hard.

The best part? When you feel comfortable, you feel confident. And that shows.

2. A Skincare Routine That Actually Fits Into Your Day

Between brushing tiny teeth and pouring cereal with one hand, the idea of a 10-step skincare routine feels wildly unrealistic. But that doesn’t mean skincare has to fall by the wayside.

I’ve pared mine back to just a few essentials: a gentle cleanser, a brightening serum, and a nourishing moisturiser. Keeping it simple means I can stick to it—even on the busiest mornings. One brand I’ve really enjoyed is The Ordinary; they do minimalist products that feel like a treat without breaking the bank. It’s skincare that feels grown-up, effective, and achievable.

3. A Tote Bag That Carries It All

We all have “that bag.” The one that’s got baby wipes, snacks, receipts, your lipstick (somewhere), and maybe even a spare pair of socks. But why shouldn’t that bag also look chic?

I’ve recently been eyeing up the tote bags at Charles & Keith. They’re roomy enough to carry all the mum-essentials but structured enough to pass as a stylish handbag. I love a piece that feels both functional and fashionable and this is definitely one of those.

Plus, a polished-looking bag can instantly elevate any outfit. Even if you’re just in gym gear and a messy bun.

4. Five Minutes of Just You

This one isn’t a product, but it’s probably the most important luxury of all, five minutes to yourself.

Sometimes it’s sitting in the car for an extra few minutes after the school run. Other times it’s that sacred first cup of tea before the house wakes up. And on the rarest of days, it’s a slow walk through town, popping into your favourite shop alone.

Whatever your “me time” looks like, take it. It might be brief, but those tiny pauses are powerful. They’re your reset button.

And yes, I’ve started making a bit more effort for these solo moments like adding a little mascara, pulling on a soft scarf, and stacking a couple of dainty rings on my fingers. It’s not about dressing up for anyone else, it’s about feeling good in my own skin again.

5. One Thing That’s Just for You

We spend so much of our time giving to our children, our partners, our work. So here’s your reminder to get something that’s purely for you. Not for the house, not for the kids. For you.

For me, that’s beautiful, simple jewellery that makes me feel like I’ve got my spark back. The kind I can wear every day, whether I’m on a coffee date or wiping crayon off the walls. That’s why I love these stackable gold rings they’re effortlessly elegant and easy to style. And they feel special, even when I’m doing the not-so-glamorous bits of life.

We all deserve those “just for me” pieces.

Final Thoughts

Motherhood is messy, magical, exhausting, and full of heart. And in the midst of all that, it’s so easy to lose the parts of ourselves that feel…well, ours.

That’s why I’m learning to embrace the small joys—the little luxuries that brighten the day, help me feel confident, and remind me that I’m more than just someone’s mum. Whether it’s a swipe of tinted lip balm, a tote that makes me feel put-together, or the gentle shine of dainty rings catching the light as I pour my third coffee, it all counts.

So, tell me, what’s your “little luxury”? I’d love to know in the comments 💛
