Little Luxuries: Dainty Rings & Everyday Pick-Me-Ups That Make Mum Life Brighter

Let’s face it, being a mum is wonderful, but it’s also a lot. The juggle of school runs, packed lunches, bedtime routines, and all the little things in between often means that we put ourselves last. Somewhere between the nappy changes and after-school snacks, our sense of self can quietly take a back seat.

But recently, I’ve started making a conscious effort to bring a few small, joyful habits back into my day. These aren’t grand gestures; they’re little luxuries. Simple, affordable things that help me reconnect with myself, lift my mood, and remind me that I'm not just a mum. I’m still me too.

One of my favourite rediscoveries? Delicate stackable gold rings that add a touch of everyday elegance. There’s something empowering about slipping one on, even when your outfit is just leggings and a hoodie. They’re subtle, timeless, and stylish—perfect for everyday wear and those rare “out-out” occasions alike. A few of these dainty rings layered together bring just the right amount of sparkle to a busy mum’s life.

But of course, jewellery isn’t the only small joy that makes a big difference. Here are a few more little luxuries that help me feel a little more me, even on the most chaotic days.

Life rarely follows a script. Let alone a neat little script where everything goes right and everyone has a great time. No, more often, life is a like a screwball comedy or disaster film, where just when everything seems to be going well, a spanner comes along to fall into the works and upend everything. One minute you’re living your best minimalist dream, and the next you’ve got a toddler, a home office, and a dog with opinions. Whether it’s a new job, growing family, injury, or simply the realisation that your current setup no longer works for how you live, your home should be able to grow and change with you, and you know what? It can. Here’s how:

How to Encourage a Growth Mindset in Your Child

Success in life isn’t just about talent — it’s about attitude. That’s where growth mindset comes in. Coined by psychologist Carol Dweck, a growth mindset is the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort, persistence, and learning. It’s the opposite of a fixed mindset, which sees traits as unchangeable.

Helping your child develop a growth mindset sets them up for a lifetime of resilience, motivation, and self-belief. Here are some tips from a prep school in Kent on how to foster that mindset in everyday life.

How to Raise a Science Lover

Science isn’t just about test tubes and lab coats — it’s a way of thinking, of wondering why, and of exploring the world with curiosity and awe. Raising a science lover doesn’t mean forcing your child to become a scientist, but nurturing their natural inclination to ask questions, experiment, and think critically. Here are some tips from an A Level resit college on how to cultivate that love from the start.
