Losing the Baby Weight

Well I have concluded its time to lose my baby weight. I feel like I am now ready for this now I'm all healed and have got to grips with Motherhood... And well there is no bloody excuses to be honest!!

Throughout my pregnancy I never really watched what I ate, obviously I avoided all the things you should. But I have to say I did pig out on a few occasions... ok maybe more than a few.

Anyway I never weighed myself whilst pregnant, my thinking was that I would weigh myself after I had given birth and then I could deal with whatever I had to deal with! But when arriving to be induced they weighed me and I had gone up to a whopping 13 1/2 stone!!!!!! That's what Jamie weighs A 6ft 4inch MAN! Embarrassing really.

I have never been a skinny girl, I'm not made that way. I have large hips and a double chin that refuses to budge even at my lightest stage of life. But its now time to do something about it.

I currently weigh about 12 stone give or take a few pounds (I don't have any scales at home, but will be purchasing some shortly), which makes me feel revolting! I want to get down to 10 stone (anymore would be amazing, but I haven't been under 10 stone since I was in High School)and really think I can do it this time!

I have downloaded an app called My Fitness Pal, its a calorie counting app. To be truthful I have had this app for around two years and have used it on and off. Its improved dramaticly and really think its such a vital app to anyone wanting to lose the weight, for example...

After you have entered in your food diary, it will tell you that if you where to continue like this for 5 weeks this is what you weight would be. And when I see this I think "I WANT to do this".

So there it is I have told the world (well those of you reading this) my weight and so now I'm committed to do something about it, I will try and update once a month to let you know my progress!

Autumn Bucket List - Make-Up

Its that time again to tick something off the old bucket list! This time its make-up I like to wear during Autumn.

Now I'm a Mummy I dont spend alot of time on make-up, but I still like to try and make an effort. Above is a pic of my everyday make-up.  Below is a pic of the products...

As you can see its a mixed bunch of products. It's mainly drug store as at the moment I can't really justify spending tons on higher end products, for example my all time favourite foundation is Nars Sheer Glow, but now I use Rimmel's Wake Me Up. I still have my Urban Decay Naked pallett which I LOVE but I have even found a cheaper version of that by MUA!

Im not going to run through the products, as this isnt a beauty blog, but one thing I am loving for Autumn is wine coloured lips. On the top pic I have dabbed some of Maybelline Super Stay 14 hour Lipstick in the colour Wine Forever to give a more subtle look. Here is a pic of it when I went out the other evening with it in full power!

I hate taking these kinds of pictures... I look so gormless!

Anyway check out Marie's Blog here.

MIA

I haven't managed to blog much this week, and this is mainly due to my poorly Darcie.

This week has been a loooong hard week. Darcie has been teething like crazy. And she still has no bloody teeth! We have had sleepless nights, trouble at nap times and just general grumpiness. Today though she seems back to her normal self, plus we all had a good nights sleep!

Hopefully I will return to my regular posts!

Only Lady cuddles would do this week!

Autumn Bucket List - Meal

So even though Marie has asked for a meal, I'm going to be a rebel and post a desert!

Or more to the point GINGERBREAD CAKE!

I love baking, Im not very good, but I do like to try things out and learn new recipes. This particular recipe was given to me by my Mum which she had found, and gave it to me so I could bake it for her (she is not keen on baking!).

So here are the ingredients...

225g (8oz) Self raising flour
115g (4oz) Light soft brown sugar
3 tsp Ground ginger (or ginger essence)
1 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
55g (2oz) Treacle
65g (2 1/2oz) Golden syrup
1 egg
200ml (7floz) Milk

And here is the method...

Preheat oven to 150c/300f/Gas 2. Grease and line a 20cm cake tin with greaseproof paper.

Sift all the dry ingrediantes except the sugar into a large mixing bowl.

Warm the sugar, butter, treacle and golden syrup in a pan over a low heat until the butter has melted.

Stir in the melted ingredients into the centre of the dry mix together with the milk and beaten egg. Beat thoroughly with a wooden spoon.

Pour the mix into the prepared tin and bake in the centre of the oven for about an hour or until well risen and just firm to touch.

Leave to cool in the tin for about 15 mins, then turn onto a wire rack. When cold wrap in foil without removing the lining paper.

And enjoy!! I love this cake as it reminds me of Christmas just without all the trimmings!

Saturday Treats - Fry ups, Family Time, Me Time and A Good Muffin

So my Saturday started out crap. I was down in the dumps because I'm getting so frustrated with myself for not being able to drive and therefore not be able to see friends and family as much as I would like. But Jamie soon knocked me out of my foul mood.

We did the weekly shop (boring) and then he treated us to a fry up, soooo naughty but much needed (well actually not needed because the amount I have eaten this week could feed about 1000 people!).

We then came home and whilst I got on with the house work Jamie and Darcie played together and its the loveliest thing ever to hear. Then once Jamie had tired her out he put her down for a nap (that was an hour and a half ago and she is still asleep!) and he went off to work leaving me with nothing to do. So obviously thinking with my belly I thought I would try some of my friends Carrot Cake Muffins she blogged about the other day.

Here is how mine turned out... Not the prettiest of cakes (think I over did it with the cream cheese filling), but oh my goodness there good!

If you fancy trying out these wonderful Muffins see Stephs Blog here!!!

Nail Polish Friday #2

So its that time again to share with you one of my little obsessions, and this week I'm sharing Bourjois So Laque in Beige Glamour. Its such a beautiful colour and its the perfect pinky colour for Autumn.

I teamed mine up with Rimmel London's Pro Matte Finish.

Excuse the sloppy application saw my two min window and had to slap some on!

I love how these to work together, I have been playing around with the matte top coat and so far these two together have been my favourite!

What's your favourite pink for Autumn?

Feeling Mushy

Whilst sat looking through my photos I had a sudden overwhelming feeling. This blog was always intended to be something for me (and Darcie) to look back on in years to come, almost like an online journal, a place where I can share my feelings, thoughts and experiences. Whilst its great that I'm getting a lot of interest in this blog in reality it's a place for me.

The last few days have made me realise how wonderful life really is.

Last night Jamie was at work and I was feeling quite poorly, my mum came round and cheered me up, she and my Dad have helped me so much over the years, and are truly wonderful parents. Something I aspire to be like. I'm so thankful for all my family, especially since having Darcie.

Anyway... once I had gone to bed I herd Jamie come home it was about 1ish and he had gone into a 24 hour Tesco store to try and find Snow White on DVD for my friends little girls first birthday (unfortunately he couldn't find it... What is it with all the classic Disney films... You can never find them!!!) whilst there he picked up some stuff for Darcie. I hadn't asked him to get them, he got them all on his own accord. He bought her a snow suit for the winter months and a little outfit for Halloween and then a bib saying my first Christmas ready for the Christmas festivities. He also got me some much need flu medicine!!! He is soo thoughtful, he helps out so much with Darcie (more than most dads would I would say) AND work full time having a horrible shift pattern. I praise anyone who is a single parent I know I would struggle without Jamie.

I'm thankful for my beautiful home, it's small but perfectly formed (even if I can't open my built in wardrobe doors properly) and it's ours. Not rented. Ours. Not many people of my age can say that.

I'm thankful I have such wonderful friends. Since having Darcie it has drawn me close to my friends, especially Chloe who has two children (and another on the way!!) of her own. She is my oldest bestest friend in the whole wide world (I have no idea if she reads these) and she really has helped me loads!! She is so kind and thoughtful and always makes me smile!!! Also having Darcie has given me the opportunity to make some new friends, which has been really lovely.

And finally I'm so thankful for Darcie, she has been the one to make me appreciate so much, made me grow into the person I am today.

I hope in years to come I can look back at this post and the same still applies and that I'm thankful for all the same things and more.

6-9 Month Haul

Ok so on Sunday Jamie said to me I think we need to start stocking up on the next size of clothes for Darcie as her current clothes are starting to become a little bit small...

Fatal mistake Mr Burgess!!!

So when he had trotted off to work I got the Laptop out and headed straight to the NEXT website. As I have previously said I LOVE there clothes for babies, and are such good quality so I went a little bit  clicky happy and soon my basket was up to £250!! Thinking Jamie might murder me in the night at that price I soon got it down to £130 (reluctantly... A completely crazy price I know for something that is going to last a few months but it was on credit, so its not real money... that's what I tell myself lol)!

Oh my goodness, now its all laid out it looks a ridiculous amount!! BUT when they move up a size you have to buy them a whole new wardrobe again! (And you have to do it lots of times!!!)

Here are my favourites from this haul...

So even though our bank balance has taken a hit... she is all worth it!

Though I think next time I will check out ebay first!!

You live and learn as they say :)

Our Little Lady

Lady is my fur baby, in the shape of a golden Labrador. She is about two and a half (we think) and really is the perfect little doggy.

When we first bought our home in June 2011, I knew I wanted a dog. Jamie wasn't so keen on the idea. We both have grown up with dogs, and I knew that this is something I wanted for future children. So when we moved in I set about to plague Jamie... I constantly looked on websites looking into different breeds as originally I wanted a puppy. Jamie said no over and over again, until one day a caught him looking on our local Dogs Trust website. He was of the mind that rather than spending hundreds of pounds on a puppy, we could give a home to a rescue dog. He liked the idea of a grey hound, I wasn't so keen but saw my opportunity and took it! The following day we took a drive to the centre. There was loads of dogs, all different breeds there was even some spring/collie cross puppies! All of the dogs were lovely and it was hard to see why anyone wouldn't have wanted them.

Then I saw Lady. She was in a kennel with three other dogs, all who were barking like crazy, lady on the other hand was just wagging her tail! I immediately said to Jamie "I want that one" (in that stupid little Britain voice), Jamie too seemed keen. We read her little fact sheet, and it said she knew some of the basic commands, toilet trained, good with children but hated cats!!

We asked an assistant for more information and she told us that Lady had come over from Ireland and that's all she knew! We then asked if we could walk her, and she was a complete joy, full of beans and such a happy little lady!

When we came back for our walk we decided to go through the adoption process, and so we were given some information and some forms to fill out. We also had an almost interview to see if we would be compatible with lady. The whole adoption process took about two weeks. We had to have a home visit to check we had an enclosed garden etc, and we also had to visit lady two more times and take her for walks. Lady also had to be spaded, as this was another of the Dogs Trusts policies and so that took some time too.

But the day finally came and we got to take her home, we "Donated" £95 which covered her for all her costs and off we went! She was very curious, and didn't know how to get in the car, which was rather amusing, but as soon as she was in she settled instantly.

Once home we let he explore the garden, and then in the house, we let her explore everywhere. On the first day she was completely zonked and fell asleep on her bed in the evening. Later on when it was time for bed she followed us upstairs, and climbed into bed with us... We laid a blanket at the bottom of the bed and that's where she has slept ever since, which is nice when Jamie is on a night shift!

It soon became obvious that something wasn't quite right, she was constantly itching! It turned out that lady suffered from hay fever! So we now have to be extra careful in the summer with exposure to certain Grass and pollen and have to rub her down with a damp towel after walks!

When I found out I was expecting Darcie, I was quite nervous as to how Lady would react. She had already become such a big part of our little family that I didn't want her to feel pushed out! I went through a very sicky phase in my pregnancy, and each time My head was down the loo, Lady was right by my side.

(Looking after me whilst pregnant)

And then once Darcie was here, she adjusted really well, welcoming Darcie with a kiss!

Darcie is starting to take a real liking to Lady, Laughing at her, trying to stroke and kiss her, Its lovely to see.

So this is my other Little Lady and I thought I would share.

Nail Polish Friday

Do you like my unoriginal title for this blog post?!

I decided that my nail varnish posts will be every Friday and I worked out if I did a post on every single varnish I own I could do a weekly post till February 2014!

This weeks Polish is No. 7 So Simple.

This is the perfect nude, and is one of my favourite nudes in my collection. I love the brushes on these polishes as they are quite flat and so are very easy to apply. The varnish is quite sheer needing three coats to get that opaque glossy finish. I do find this polish take's a while to dry, and sometimes when you think its dry its not and then little prints are left. This is my only criticism.

I teamed mine with my Barry M Rose Quartz glitter (which is soon becoming my favourite glitter polish!!) and I LOVE the end result.

What's your favourite nude??

A Homey Haul

In my last post I mentioned that we took a trip to The Range and Next at Home, we were looking to make the downstairs a little more cosy as we still haven't really decorated! Main reason for not decorating downstairs is that I just keep changing my mind!

Anyway I thought I would share with you some of our purchases as I myself love to read or watch hauls on YouTube.

So first up is this door mat from Next for £35. It has a Stag design on it which I'm so obsessed with! I have quite a few pieces with stags on...

Next up is another Stag piece from Next, its a gorgeous cushion which is actually from there Christmas range! It is priced at £12.

I got a couple more cushions for our sofa (its looked so bare and uninviting) this one is from The Range and I think was £8.

Another cushion from Next, priced at £14 was Jamie's choice.

And the final look...

I added my jar of conkers to my sideboard, see the other stag influences here...

Lastly is this Candle holder from The Range priced at £3.99

Final look (sideboard from Ikea)

Now the evenings are much more cosey in my stark living room!!!

A Walk In The Wood's

Today was another lovely Autumnal day. Jamie had the day off and asked what I fancied doing and so we decided to take a trip to Norwich and walk around Mousehold Heath.

Mousehold Heath is a large woodland and heath area in the City of Norwich. Its lovely to have a good walk round and Lady (our dog) loves it!

So off we trotted, Me, Jamie, Darcie, Lady and my Mum.

It was a beautiful day, quite chily but soon warmed up when the sun came out!

Here are a few of my favourite piccy's...

After our looong walk, we decided to have a cheeky KFC and then pop into the Range and Next at Home... I think I will do a homey haul in the next couple of days as I have been sprucing up now Autumn is here to make it more cosy!
