Tired

(Image)

Apologies for not blogging yesterday, I simply ran out of time!! Not enough hours in the day hey?

Anyway, please forgive and lets move forward...

So I'm tired, probably the main reason I didn't blog last night, so, so, so very tired. Darcie's asthma is seemingly at bay and so today its time to get back on the sleep training business!
Jamie had Darcie whilst I worked today, and managed to get her to go to sleep by herself in her cot and so fingers crossed I can do the same tonight. For me and Jamie need our sleep!

I will try and be persistent, hopefully illness wont interfere.. AGAIN! I just want my good sleeping baby back please...

.... Just thought I would update we tried cry it out again. I put her in her cot, and left her for 5 mins then we had a min cuddle, put her back and left her for 5 mins then we had a min cuddle, put her back and she feel asleep two minuets later... I think were getting somewhere!!!

Re-thinking Our Spare Bedroom

You may remember ages and ages ago I did a post on my plans for our spare bedroom, see that post here. However it never happened! And in a way I am  glad because over the last month or so I have been mulling over the functionality of upstairs and how I would like it to be.

Darcie's current room is the smallest of the bedrooms, originally I wanted the bigger of the spare rooms to be an office space/spare guest room. But now I'm thinking I would like to swap the two over! (Jamie will be rolling his eyes when he reads this... but read on it will make sense...)

My thinking is that when Darcie is older and in a big girls bed, which could be as early as Christmas if she keeps trying to escape, that room will offer her very little space to play. So swapping the two rooms over would offer her a lovely little area. Plus we would still be able to have an office and spare bed in her current room if I got creative with the space.

Now obviously this won't happen untill she is ready for that change, and that won't be for a long time... however the Pinterest freak that I'am, I have already created a board with lots of lovely ideas for that space...

I'm not so keen the wallpaper BUT I do love the idea of the fabric over the bed and the little table and chairs... So cute and very girly

I quite like this, I love the idea of grey and pink but perhaps it may be too "grown up", but I think it could work if done in the right way.

This bed is just too cute! I love everything about this the colour, the bunting and the head board! Love love love!

I Love this idea as a bed and with the added storage area... Fancy a DIY project Jamie??

This is again is another big LOVE, I adore everything about this

I have seen this alot on Pinterest and I would definitely like to do this for her growing collection of books.

Love this as storage

Look at the lighting and butterfly's of the wall, so so so cute!

So there we have it, that's what is buzzing around my mind at the moment. Silly really as this will not become reality for a while. But its nice to dream and plan, plus I want to see more of Darcie's personality to come through so her room can represent that too.

To see more and see the links, visit my Pinterest page here.

What are you currently dreaming up??

Giggly Girl

Darcie is currently napping so I thought I would quickly do today's post. I was looking through my phone when I saw the following video, I couldn't believe I had forgotten to post it on here!

And seeing as today all I have done is to try and cheer up a grumpy poorly little girl, and clear up masses of sick seeing this video cheered me up!

Please excuse my singing and choice of song... whenever she hears this she cracks up!

Let me know if you have trouble viewing this as I'm unsure of my settings...

I HATE This Weather

Normally I'am a Winter person. I Love the cold and snuggling up in the evening, brisk wintery walks and all the hype before Christmas. BUT this year I have seen Winter in a completely light, one filled with illness!

Poor Darcie B had another trip to the Doctors as in the morning she was coughing so much she made herself very sick, her breathing was also very laboured. So as she was supposed to be in nursery, and they don't take children when they have been sick I made the decision to stay at home with Darcie for the day, as Jamie had work also. She slept for three two hour periods so I knew she was poorly.

The Doctor saw her in the Afternoon and did a few tests mainly to check if anything was on her chest and luckily there wasn't. But he did say it sounded like her asthma was bad again, he timed her breathing which confirmed this. He said there wasn't a lot they could do, just keep it at bay with her inhaler. If she hasn't improved she has got to go back next week as there is a chance it could turn into a chest infection as she has a lot of mucus (lovely).

Sorry this is a day late, but Darcie has been super clingy whilst ill so have simply not had the time! fingers crossed today's post will go up on time!

Girls And Their Toys #1

Firstly just got to say "HELL YEAH" Darcie is asleep in her own cot and I didn't have to cuddle her to sleep! Whoooopy DOOOO!!!

Now to the post...

Today I'm going to share with you another one of Darcie's Christmas Presents that she really enjoys...

The Universe of Imagination Foam Building Blocks

Ok Ok Ok, so Darcie may not quite be old enough to play with these how there intended, but she really loves playing and exploring with the different coloured shapes. Plus because they are foam they are nice and safe.

The way we like to play with these is to build a tower and then Darcie cheekily knocks them down! (I think Jamie likes these more than Darcie at times!)

These are completely brilliant as a baby's first building blocks.

We purchased ours from Toys 'R' Us, £9.99 for 100 pieces! Not Bad.

Sleep... What's That Again?!

It's currently 8:41pm and all I can hear is Darcie playing in her cot.

We're finding night time very difficult at the moment and I'm very unsure what to do... she seemingly just wants me to cuddle her to sleep and to be honest as much as I love it I think its time for some tough love!

I'm going to try crying it out...

I know, I know I said in a previous post its something I couldn't do BUT this just can't go on! She is getting bigger now she needs to learn to sleep on her own so here goes... Join me on tonight's experience....

8:45pm Darcie has started crying, I'm going to leave her 5 mins like suggested...

Two mins in and I want to kill myself!

Three mins she is hysterical... Can I do this?!

Ok so I managed to do the five mins... Its now 9:20pm and I have only just stopped her from crying and shaking!

Anyone that knows Darcie, knows she is very independent little lady and very rarely cries, so to see her like that is shocking! I praise anyone that has the strength to do crying it out, but I just can't, call me weak, I just can't do it!

Will have to try something else tomorrow....

Snow Day #4

Check out my pjs.... Tesco bargain!!!

Yes we had ANOTHER snow day!!

We had a huge amount of snow last night, making the roads a complete nightmare, hence another closure. On this snow day, we met up with Jason and Kristina again for coffee and a bite to eat, yummy. Then we came home and me and Darcie got our PJ's on for a lazy afternoon... resulting in a two hour nap! Bliss!

We are due more snow tonight, Jamie finishes work at 1am... fingers crossed he doesn't have another treacherous journey home.

Our Weekend

This weekend has been a lovely one, Jamie's brother, Jason, recently got engaged to a lovely girl called Kristina and this weekend we finally got to meet her!

A bit odd you may think but she is from California so logistics have stopped this from happening! So on Saturday we went to Norwich and showed her the sights and then had a nice meal at Bella Italia. This morning we ventured into our local town and had breakfast, lovely!

Its been nice to catch up with Jason too, as due to him being in the Army we rarely get to see him.

Didn't take many pictures this weekend, as I didn't want to shove a camera in her face on our first meeting!! hehe!

I wish them all the happiness in the world

Snow Day #3

Yup three days off work due to the snow, glorious!
Today has been uneventful, after getting the email to say the school would be shut today. Jamie (as promised) let me have a lay in, lovely except I was already wide awake! However just being able to laze around in my nice and cosy bed was wonderful, something I never appreciated before Darcie!

So other than my lovely lazy morning today has been pretty boring. House tided, food shop done (Morrison's was hideously busy) ready for what should be a very nice and exciting weekend, if the weather doesn't ruin it!

Hope you all enjoy the snow, and doesn't prove too much of a nuisance.

Grab a cup of tea and nice book... What Are You Reading?

I love a good book, to get lost in a book beats any movie or t.v series (yes even The Vampire Diaries... now do I mean that? I am pretty much obsessed... ok everything other than TVD). To get lost in a book is my time to escape.

Currently I am reading Miranda Harts, It's Just Me.

Its brilliant! Written in true Miranda form, she discusses topics like Hobbies and Technology to her younger 18 year old self... trying to explain email and twitter... SUCH FUN!

A nice and easy read, that lifts my mood instantly. What are you reading at the moment?

A Brownie In A Mug In Three Mins!

I know, I know, I am supposed to be on a health kick... Well I lost 5lb this week (crazy right... more on that in another post) and I wanted a little treat today and thought about making some brownies. However if I was to make a batch today it would be gone tomorrow.

So browsing through my food and drink board on Pinterest I came across a wonderful recipe for a brownie in a mug!!! Perfect for that little treat without the risk of eating a whole batch (please say I am not the only one who does this!).

Ingredients

1/4 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of flour
2 tbsp of coco powder
pinch of salt
2 tbsp of olive oil
3 tbsp of water

Method

Add all dry ingredients
Mix
Add water and olive oil
Mix
Put in the microwave for 1min and 10 secs

And there you have it!

You could always add extras like ice cream to make it even more naughtier...

Are Ipswich better than Norwich? A seven month's old opinion

So out at dinner yesterday, Jamie was casually chatting and asking her opinion on football and his beloved team Norwich...

The sound quality is poor but he says "Darcie is Ipswich better than Norwich?"

Probably Jamie's proudest moment he he he!

Blossom Farm Whiskers Cat Pat Mat

Well that's a mouthful isn't it?!?!

Today I'm introducing something that Darcie loves, its the Early Learning Centre, Blossom Farm Whiskers Cat Pat Mat. This bizzare looking thing was given to Darcie for Christmas from my Mum, as she noticed how Darcie liked to pat the table on her high chair.

This toy encourages Darcie to explore and feel for the toys floating around in the water. Yes it's filled with water (which you add) and some people have said on the ELC website that there's have popped because there babies have rolled over onto them... well thats not what there designed for!! We have not had any problems with leaking or popping, as we keep Darcie's on her high chair.

She really loves this, it keeps her entertained whilst we prepare tea... life saver!

Its a bargain too at £6.40 (currently in sale, original price £8, check it out here)

Alternatively I have found a DIY version that I think would work perfectly...

... This such a simple idea with everyday items, all you need is a freezer ziplock bag, some hair gel, duct tape and a few things to put into the bag... simple! Please check out THIS blog for further info.

Darcie at seven months

Well Darcie is seven months old... Craziness!! In the last couple of weeks Darcie seems to have progressed so much its scary! It amazes me that all of a sudden they just start doing things out of the blue!

Well Darcie has never been keen on tummy time, but she has over the last week got herself into the crawling position! I really thought (and still do really) that she would skip crawling because over the last couple of weeks she has started pulling herself up and trying to walk when you hold her hands!!!

Another new thing she does is shake her head, its hilarious!! And she finds it amusing too!

The other night whilst playing me and my mum are pretty convinced she said Dadda! She hasn't said it again but she is definitely becoming more vocal.

Food wise she is doing amazingly, she handles finger food superbly and cheese sandwiches are her new favourite.

She has also become very loving, she has never been a clingy baby. She is very independent and very confident. But recently she has been giving us cuddles and kisses and its so lovely because you know she is learning to express her self.

Sleepingwise, she seems to be going back to her good habits. Occasionally she will end up in our bed but that isn't until around 5am, a big improvement on 10pm!!

Oh I do love my girl.

Kitchen Delights

My house is slowly coming together YAY! I LOVE snooping around people's homes and getting ideas... I'm one of those people who has the Right Move app on their phone just so I can do this on a daily basis and play then game "if I had a million pounds I would buy this house..." I normally get greedy and need about £50 million to for fill my dreams!!! So with that in mind I thought I would share with you our progress on our little home...

The only new addition is the colour, my home is still prominently magnolia, and when you have lived with it for a year and a half adding a bit of colour really is progress for me!! There is still quite alot I want to do with this room but we seem to have got the ball rolling so lets hope this continues!
