So Much Warmth

As After a very stressful day at work, one that left me feeling angry, upset and frustrated. Jamie decided to take us to our favourite walking spot, Wortham Ling. It was around 5 pm, the sun was starting to make its way down, and my baby had fallen asleep after a fun and busy day at nursery. I could of easily transferred her into her pushchair, but I just wanted to cuddle my gorgeous, loving little girl.

As she snuggled in, I couldn't help but think how perfect these little moments are and how we should treasure them all and above all make more times for these. It's so easy to get caught up in everyday life, doing the same routine over and over and not actually living.

She was so perfectly snuggled, cuddling in, snoring her little head off.

After a few mins, she all of a sudden woke up. Realising where she was, she wanted to go down and start to walk. She loves being outside, walking her Lady (our Labrador) she definitely woke up with a smile on her face. After this she walked the entire route that we normally do, stopping every now and then to pick up leaves and mud (we love a bit of mess here!). She also started to tell me about her day, talking about "traktas" (tractors)' the "sky" and "leeeevs" (leaves). Everyday she is learning more words, we are able to speak to each other more and more and she understands so much of what I say to her.

I just wanted to right this down to make sure I say thank you to my gorgeous daughter, who reminds me daily how wonderful life can be.

Love you Darcie B

Reve Van Cleef & Arples - Review

I was recently sent Reve Van Cleef & Arples perfume to try and think it's my new favourite perfume for a special occasion. So much so I am considering using it on my wedding day.

It has a beautiful floral scent, but is also very fresh and a young feel to it. I was also pleasantly surprised how long it lasted, and I kept getting hints of it through the day.

As it was only a tiny sample size (which I actually LOVE getting, perfect little handbag size) I am most certainly going to re-perchase soon. It retails for around £32 for 30ml but have seen it a lot cheaper online.

What perfume would you recommend for your wedding day??

A Day At The Farm

Today we took a trip to a local farm type centre for Darcie to have some fun in the fresh air.

It was a cute little place aimed for little ones and very cheap! It also had some animals that you wouldn't normally find on a farm... Camels!

This place had a passion for all things camels, and we got to hear the ins and outs of them from the owner.

We really enjoyed the day, a chance for Darcie to roam free safely and have some fun!

Hope you have all had a fantastic weekend, I have lots of posts lined up but it has been very hectic of late so please bare with me!

Today I turned 25

Today I turned 25 and surprisingly I feel ok about it. Quarter of a century, half way to 50, closer to 30 than I am 20. Am I bothered?

No. BUT time IS going by so quickly is only seemed yesterday we were off to Colchester Zoo for my 24th!

Anyhoo. I was at work today so most of my celebrations have fitted around that. This morning Darcie and Jamie surprised me with their lovely and very generous gifts...

I'm not going to share much with you on this part of the day, as one the lighting was particularly crap at 6am and two, well I don't look my best at 6am either!

It was a lovely morning, I was very overwhelmed, I got lots of cuddles and kisses from Darcie and cake for breakfast too!

I also had a little helper when trying on my new Hunter wellies!!

After a lovely morning it was off to work for me. My friends kept the well wishes going, with cards with wonderful messages and thoughtful gifts. Plus lots of beautiful singing from all my students! Thanks Guys!

After work, Jamie picked me up with Darcie and Lady (our Labrador) in tow and we headed for Southwold.

Chips were first on the agenda. Naturally.

And ending with a lovely and playful stroll along the beach...

Now I'm back home, with more cake, my feet up looking back over old photos. The birthday celebrations will continue over the weekend so stay tuned!

September Beauty Lusts

Trawling the net tonight I have been adding a couple of things to my beauty lust list (that I am slooowly knocking down!) and thought you may want a nose...

Firstly  a NYX Blusher, 'pinched' is quite taking my fancy at the moment! A dupe for Nars Orgasm apparently!

Hoola bronzer by Benefit. I keep seeing this and every time I need a new bronzer I say I'm going to get it and never do. Something tells me its time!

Two MAC eye shadows I'm loving at the moment is 'cranberry' and 'naked lunch'. I love MAC eye shadows and haven't had one in a while.

Moroccan Oil, I'm wanting to get my hair back into tip top condition and have herd so many wonderful things about this.

Another NYX product, their lip creams. I curious to see what the texture is like on them. I'm really fussy with my lip products.

Sleek Contour Kit, I really am disappointed with myself that I have never used this before!!! So this has to change this month!

Lastly, Bumble & Bumble Mending Masque. I have read lots of lovely reviews and hope it can help my very damaged hair but with a price tag of around £30 it might be a bit too much of a splurge!

What have you been lusting over this month?

Transitioning from cot to bed

Deciding that the time is right to make the move from cot to bed, is never an easy one. We decided to do it around six weeks ago and I am so glad we did.

Darcie is only 15 months. Yes, 15 months and she is in a bed. Am I crazy?? Some people think so. Well indirectly, saying how they want their toddlers safe in a cot out of harms way.

Well... finding your child almost about to fall out of a cot head first is pretty scary! So with that scary episode and the fact that we already had a bed and were moving her into the bigger of our spare rooms (find out more about that in THIS post), we decided to take the plunge.

This bed was given to us my mother & father-in-law and is by Mothercare. Its fantastic, low to the ground and has a guard rail to help them stay in bed. For extra piece of mind I put Darice's mattress from her cot underneath her bed so at night I could just pull it out and if she was to fall, this would cushion her landing.

On her first night she slept like a log! We did nothing different with her routine, she was already used to a duvet and pillow, the only difference was she was in a bed.

The following night however it took her ages to settle, but we put that down to teething. Now, about six weeks on, she has been excellent!! She has never fallen out of her bed, we have had a couple of visits in the night from her (which was actually very sweet), but on the whole if she does wake up she stays put  and we pop her music on and then she self soothes.

I don't really have any tips as such to share, but wanted to share our experience with you guys. If anyone is considering making the move, trust your instincts, only you can really know whether your child is ready. I'm glad we did as she is a LOT more happier in a bed than a cot!

Wedding Series: Cake Inspiration

This weekend I have been thinking lots about our big day, with under 11 months to go I'm feeling the need to get more things finalised.

One of part of this is the cake. I have been thinking for some time how I want something a little bit different to your traditional wedding cake. I toyed with the idea of cupcakes but feel like this something that is becoming the norm, plus I don't really like how the cupcakes look when on a cake stand. It doesn't look special enough to me.

So whilst doing what I do best, pinning away on Pinterest, I came across something I had seen before but not really considered. Naked wedding cakes.

These wedding cakes are usually in the traditional tiered style but have no icing. They are usually dusted with icing sugar and decorated with fruit and/or flowers.

Here are a couple that I am loving...

This one is very classy, love the flowers. It has an elegant feel without being over the top.

I LOVE this one, full of chocolate sponge yummy!! This one will appeal to Jamie's sweet tooth too! So simple.

This one is very similar to the first one but I like the messy kind of look to it, its very rustic and will go well with the Barn style wedding that we are having.

Another thing I love about this style of cake is that it could be a good DIY option. No need to worry about fiddly icing and decorating.

What do you think about these naked style wedding cakes? I feel they might be a love hate thing for some people!

Saturday Chill Day

After a busy week all I wanted from this weekend was some quality time with Little d. Jamie was working today and the weather has been pretty pants. So other than a quick trip to Tesco to stock up on supplies, we had a day in chilling, playing and reading together.

As I have said a million times before, Darcie's favourite thing is books so naturally we spend lots of time reading together. Most of the time she likes to be read too, but once in a while she likes to take the reins and tell me the story.

But sometimes, its all just a bit too much so nothing like chilling on your bed hey Darcie?!

Really hope the weather is a little better tomorrow, although it does look like its brightening this afternoon!

How are you all enjoying your Saturday?

Happy Week

This week you will have mostly found me with a smile on my face. Work has been fantastic and I am definitely enjoying my job again!! My Dad completed his cycle from Lands End to John O' Groats (see more about that on THIS post) and so I am immensely proud of him.

One of the main things that have made me smile so much is to see Darcie's vocabulary has grown. She was given some flash cards when she was first born but I had forgotton about them until the other day! Well since then she has been obsessed with them, to see her so keen to learn is amazing and she is really trying with certain words! This week alone we have had new words including...

Banana
Purple
Grandad
Nanna
Ball
Clock

I think over the next few weeks her vocabulary will grow even more!! I would totally recommend getting some flash cards if your little one is taking an interest in learning new words. Also reading to your child no matter how young is a great way to help with their vocabulary too :)

Autumn to do list

As I am sat wrapped in my dressing gown AND a fleecy blanket (with a glass of wine in hand) I am feeling like Autumn and the colder months are approaching fast. Which has got me thinking as to what I would like to do over the next few months.

I like to stop and think about these things, I love to make lists and have hundreds of them in my note section on me phone! Last year I created an Autumn bucket list (which you can see HERE

So here is my to do list for Autumn 2013

  • Go for a walk through the Autumn leaves
  • Create an Autumn activity for Darcie
  • Take Lady to Southwold so she can enjoy the seaside
  • Paint our main bedroom
  • Have a date night on the bike (motorbike) before it gets too cold
  • Choose a Pinterest project and create!
  • Carve Pumpkins for Halloween
  • Take Darcie to our local fireworks
  • Get some recent photos printed and make gifts for family

Now its chucking it down with rain, I am feeling very very cosy. This is what I love about Autumn.

Things you are looking forward to during the colder months??

Back to a routine

First week back at work and I have loved it! Its really nice to be back in our little routine. Don't get me wrong I love that I get to spend all the school holidays with my little one, but I also love when she gets to go to nursery. She thrives around other children!

This weekend will involve me and Darcie looking after a load of men! My soon to be brother-in-law is getting married at the end of this month and so its his stag weekend. Quite a few of them is staying at ours... Bacon butties at the ready!!

But for now whilst Darcie is tucked up in bed and the boys are out, its relaxation time for me. I will be reading blogs & drinking hot chocolate so send me your links!

How are you spending your Friday evening?

New Blog Design

Hello Lovelies!

I have a brand spanking new blog design! I LOVE it!! My old blog design I had created myself, and I was quite proud of it BUT it never felt quite right.

So for the last couple of weeks I was scouring the web for something or someone to create something perfect.

Then on Etsy I stumbled across Saffy Loves who has some gorgeous designs and I immediately fell in love! What's more she is a local girl to me!

Her whole service was amazing, quick and nice to deal with. Plus she made everything a breeze to install!

I would completely recommend her if you are after a gorgeous new blog design.

What do you think?? Do you like??

My Autumn/Winter Coat from Joules

A few weeks ago you may remember that me and Jamie had a "date day" and one of our stops was Holt where I did some naughty sale shopping (see more on that post HERE). One of my buys was this amazing coat from Joules.

The week previous to this I had gone shopping with my mum (or more window shopping) and I saw a coat to this almost exactly the same but with different lining for £98 in Joules. I was in LOVE with it, but I thought £98 was a bit steep considering I am getting married in under a year now. But I thought if I was good I would perhaps treat myself for my birthday (which is the 26th of this month - woo!).

However when we popped in to Joules in Holt I headed straight over the sale section where I found this beautiful coat for a much cheaper price of £58. I tried in on and Jamie was just like "buy it" so naturally, as I can't resist a bargain, I snapped it up!

P.s. Pinch punch the first day of the month!
