Working Mum

So this week I went back to work. How do I feel? Ok(ish).

I went back on Monday, and it certainly felt like I had never left but in some respects it was like I was a newbie again. Socially I feel becoming a Mum has certainly changed things, your not invited to gatherings, people seem like they don't know what to say to you, its like you've become a different person to them. When in fact, your the same person who likes a good night out and a gossip - Maybe its me that's changed? I have been out of the loop for seven long months.

Its been lovely to see friendly faces and so it has been nice, but feel I have a long way to go before I re-establish myself.

The work was the same as before, that certainly hasn't changed. I work in a school and I really love my job, but it doesn't come without its challenges. Wednesday was a horrible day, horrible lessons with students who are most certainly ready for there Christmas holiday. That day I cried alot. BUT I felt so much better for doing it, I spoke to fellow colleges who knew how I felt and it put me at ease that this was perfectly normal to wobble every now and then.

On Wednesday it was a big day for Darcie she had a trial at her nursery which Jamie went to, apparently it went really well and Darcie thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thursday, was an even bigger challenge for Darcie. Being left on her own at Nursery for a couple of hours. How did she find it? Again she was fine. She painted me and Jamie some pictures and had some lunch too. My little Star.

This last picture is of a hat Jamie  Darcie made for me at one of her weekly groups. So Cute.

I owe so much to Jamie, he is mainly looking after her whilst I am work and he is doing a grand job!

Well just tomorrow to get through (Which also happens to be the "end of the world") and then two weeks off for Christmas.

Bedroom Inspiration

So after Christmas we are decorating our main bedroom. I'm super excited as currently its really boring, and very uninviting - not somewhere were I want to chill.

Its a Christmas present for us.

We have purchased quite a few pieces already including this AMAZING (slighty Christmassy... who cares) bedding from Next. It has Stag's on it so obviously I was immediately drawn to it.

In fact all the following items listed are all from Next.co.uk...

This item I haven't yet purchased mainly because it is £50... hoping it goes down in the sales!

This cushion is from Asda and I thought it would look lovely on the bed along with the Stag cushions!

The colour theme is red and cream, with hints of green and purple... sounds awful but trust me, in my head it looks beautiful!

Anyway here is some more inspiration that I have found from Pinterest...

These are spice racks which have been used to house nail polish, as I have a ton (and Jamie thinks my current storage is getting too small..) and I think it would be a nice place to house them. Though I would paint them an off white colour against the red wall.

Here are some more general "red bedroom" inspiration that I have found on Pinterest...

I'm so excited to see how it turns out, currently we are undecided on a red to choose. Jamie is worried it would look too dark, where as I want a warm and cosy room with soft lighting. Can't wait to show you what we come up with!

Mini update

I haven't been blogging much of late, mainly because I have had a very poorly bubba. You may remember in my "winter walk in Southwold" post that Darcie had just got over the winter vomiting virus, well then she got this horrendous cold.

It has been awful, she won't go down at night or naps unless cuddled, wakes every 40 mins, and constantly wheezing. On Thursday I took her to the doctors and he said it was just a cough and she would be over it within a few days. After, what seemed like a very long weekend we decided to take her back for a second opinion as she just seemed to be getting worse. This doctor (different from the last) suggested trying her on an inhaler to help with her wheezing, to make her more comfortable. We were told its completely safe and should make night time a little bit better.

Since having the inhaler Darcie has been much better, it has really helped her able to sleep better which, in turn, is aiding a better recovery! Hurrah!

We have been very lucky that Darcie has been very good when having her inhaler, the Doctor recommended that we made it a "game" and to let her play with the mouth piece so it was not to be seen as a scary thing. Now she just lets me do it easy peasy!

Fingers crossed Darcie will be 100% soon enough, its always horrible when there poorly.

Christmas Wrapping Ideas

So normally I don't do anything special when wrapping but being the Pinterest geek that I am I have felt somewhat inspired this year. Check out some of these gorgeous ideas that I have stumbled across...

I LOVE this idea especially for the kiddies, I have a couple that I'm buying for and think I may incorporate this into there wrapping.

This is brilliant. Simple brown parcel paper with your own decoration using pen or paint, super simple and very cheap to do!

Brown parcel paper again, with festive decoration, simple and beautiful.

I'm liking the brown parcel paper this year... This one is lovely with the persons initial being them main feature.

How festive is this?!?! I love pom poms! Think I may do this on a couple of Darcie's presents, I think she will enjoy feeling and playing with them!

These are my favourites this year, I have already made a big start on my wrapping incorporating a few of these ideas...

I have gone for the brown parcel paper, its actually much cheaper than your traditional Christmas wrapping paper. With garden twine and Christmas ribbon to match, along with mini Christmas cards cut down to create so cheap gift tags.

Not very adventurous compared to the other images, but for me its a step in the right direction!

With Jamie having a day off and Darice recovered from the winter vomiting virus and me slightly going insane from being in the house for three days straight, we decided to take a trip to my favourite seaside town, Southwold.

It was a perfect day, Nice long walk, a mooch around town and then Hot Chocolate and Fish & Chips. What more could I ask for???

Play Days

So today wasn't supposed to be anything special, plus waking up with a headache did not make the day look promising. After searching the house and not finding anything to cure the headache me and Darcie trotted off in search of a cure...

We went to the usual place... Boots and got some paracetamol and then took a stroll into the park. I treated Darcie to a quick swing (only a quick one it was bloody freezing today!) and she was full of laughter and smiles. This instantly made me feel a million times better.

So with this in mind we went back home and I was on a mission to continue with the laughter... So a full day of play ensued...

We played with all her toys, and her favourite of the day??? A stripy blanket and a Tupperware of rice... Easily pleased my child :)

And now she is napping...

What a lovely day
