Wooden flooring is a timeless look that never seems to go out of fashion and it’s something that I’m very much lusting after in my own home. If you’re considering getting wooden flooring or currently have wooden flooring (super jealous) then there are some simple do’s and don’ts to make sure you’re making the most of that beautiful flooring.
Types of wooden flooring
There are a number of options if you’re after wooden flooring that can suit difference scenarios and budgets.
Engineered wooden floors are becoming a really popular option, they deliver a warm and welcoming statement, full of natural beauty, durability and will stand the test of time for both style and quality. From a practical point of view they are much easier to keep clean than carpets, which are easily stained and can be full of hidden dirt and dust - which is one of my biggest gripes with my own home. It’s also a healthy choice, especially if you have allergies. Carpets collect dust, pollen and other particles which re-circulate in the air and can cause irritation, so if allergens are an issue wooden flooring is a definite must.
You can get a range of colours/wood grain along with laying them in different ways. For example herringbone style is not only popular for tiles but is becoming even more popular for wooden flooring too.
