Work & Breastfeeding

As most of you will know I head back to work on Monday after being off work since the middle of July. Whilst I wrote a little a while ago how I was feeling about my return to work after maternity leave, I wanted to write a dedicated post about returning to work and breastfeeding. Can they go hand in hand?

Family Festival Essentials

The past few days we have been basked in sunshine and it's making me look forward to summer. Something I have always wanted to do is to take the children to a family friendly festival and we're hoping to attend one this year. For some, the idea of taking young children to a festival may be their idea of hell. But, with some carefully planning and being prepared it can be an experience which the whole family can enjoy and special memories made.

So what would I recommend if you are thinking of taking children/toddler/babies?

I'm Sorry.

This is something I'm afraid to write. I'm afraid I will be judged to the high heavens and not many people will understand what I'm trying to say. But, for a while, I felt like I had lost a connection with my daughter since the birth of her brother. At one point I even Googled "Loving your first child less after a second baby".

How F-ing awful.

Henry at Six Months

baby at six months old

Yesterday you turned six months old. I can't believe you're six months old already, celebrating your half birthday. You will get tired of me saying this, but where has the time gone? Six months ago me, your daddy and your sister waited all day long for you to have your checks and for me to have mine so we could take you home for the very first time. Eventually, at around 6pm we were allowed to take you home and work out how to function as a family of four.

Designing our Perfect Garden

As I look at my current mud pit garden I'm counting down the weeks until work gets underway to renovate the garden to make it a fully functional and beautiful space. We are currently waiting to have our summer house/shed built and then the rest of the project can get underway. There are a number of things I have been doing in the meantime to get ourselves ready for when work does eventually get under way.

Sock-Ons & Dribble Ons| Review & Giveaway

When given the opportunity to review a pair of the famous Sock Ons & Dribble Ons, I jumped at the chance. For I have a baby that is obsessed with their feet and who also happens to be dribbling due to teething at the moment - we're the perfect test subjects!!

The battle with babies and their socks is real non-parents/parents-to-be. In fact, I don't  think you get the official title of "parent" until you've lost a sock or two.  Of course, I'm joking, but all those mums and dads out there know that keeping those beautiful and tiny feet nice and cosy is often a challenge.

Mothers Day 2016

Firstly, happy Mother's Day to all the mummy's out there doing their best for the most important people in their lives. Hope you've all had a wonderful day spending it with the ones you love the most!

This is my fourth Mother's Day, but my first as a mum of two. This morning I woke to two snoozing little people who were snuggling up so close to me, all I could feel was warmth and love. Even if they had crept into my bed at four am! My husband then got home from work (he was a night shift!) walked in and smiled - then presented me with a plateful of goodies and a nice cup of tea - was the perfect way to start the day.

Returning to work after maternity leave

returning to work after maternity leave

Back to work. I have been away from work since the end of July, eight whole months ago. I can't believe it is time to go back already! I think every parent sounds like a broken record when they say this, but, where on earth has that time gone? When I think of how my first day back will be (in two weeks time) a mixture of emotions fills me, sadness, worry, guilt, and excitement. It's a weird combo.
