A Date Day

Today me and Jamie took an opportunity to have the day together, just us. As much as we both enjoy spending the majority of our times sharing experiences with Darcie, its important to have a bit of us time.

We had planned to spend the day together but had no ideas as to what to do! So this morning we hopped in the car and headed to the North Norfolk coast, we were aiming to avoid the rain that was forecast for today and that seemed the best bet (which it was!).

Our first stop was Holt. I have herd so many wonderful things about Holt, but the only time I have been there was when I was about 10 on a school trip! It held up to expectations, it was beautiful, with quirky courtyards filled with unusual shops - even a Christmas shop!

After a naughty stop at Joules (more on that on another post...!) and a cheeky cream tea, we headed to the coast to Blakeney.

The North Norfolk coast line is wonderful road to drive on, lots to see, very picturesque!

Blakney itself it so another quaint and pretty place. We spent the afternoon on a walk followed by some people watching (not in a creepy way - honest)!

It was the perfect day to just enjoy time together. I would thoroughly recommend both Holt and Blakney if you're after a relaxing day out exploring cute original shops and good food.

How do you and your partners spend a "date day"?

Naughty Buys

Yesterday my Mum and I took a quick spur of the moment trip to Norwich. Always fatal!

My first stop was the Disney store, I am a sucker for anything Disney and I think Darcie is slowly becoming that way inclined too (naughty mummy!)! So when Darcie locked eyes with Sophia the First, her eyes immediately lit up and I knew there was no way of leaving the store without it (going to have to nip that little trick in the bud otherwise I am soon going to be broke!). It is now always at her side for the majority of the day!

Next was Boots. I could spend hours and hours browsing the make-up but I knew Mum would not tolerate that, so I went over to the Soap & Glory make up section as I have wanted to try some of their make up for ages! I was impressed with their range, and I was drawn to the Sexy Mother Pucker Glossy Stick in the colour Plum Jam, Lidshadow & Linerstick Duo in the colours Velvet Pink and Brownie and the Super Colour Fabu Lip Stick in the colour Guava Rama. I'm not going to jump in here and give my thoughts as I will leave these for a separate post.

My final stop was Accsessorize where I purchased these gorgeous sun glasses!

So there you have it, my mini haul. I do love a little treat every now and then (happens so rarely!)

Hope everyone is having a good summer.

Its finally the summer holidays!

Six whole weeks with my Darcie B!!

This post is two days late as I have already been enjoying the holidays so much! This summer looks to be a busy one, we are desperately trying to get our house into gear and get it how we want it. So yesterday Darcie's new bedroom décor was ordered and a trip to Ikea will soon take place. After a miss-hap in our hallway, new flooring is also on the list, though I have been told of an amazing sale that is due to take place in September at a local retailer so I am holding off till then on that part of the DIY summer project!

I'm also planning on spending lots of time with friends and family, days out, trips to the park etc, etc, everything that you could want from a summer holiday. Probably with a huge amount of ice cream thrown in for good measure!

For many the summer holidays may fill them with dread, how to entertain the kids, disruption of routines, added expenses... But Darcie is at such a perfect age, she loves doing anything! She is happy to explore local parks and see the ducks, everything to her is a new adventure. One that I feel privileged that I get to share with her.

Knettishall Heath July 2013

With the sun shining it was too tempting to ditch the house work and make the most of the weather. So that's exactly what I did. Ditched the house work and went for a lovely walk around Knettishall Heath with Little d, Lady and my Mum (Jamie was off working).

The weather was just perfect, warm but a little bit cooler than it has been so it wasn't uncomfortable whilst we wondered.

If you live in the Norfolk area I highly recommend taking a walk here, its beautiful and nice walks - there is even a wheelchair friendly walk which we used to take my Nan on. But as Darcie's Quinny is pretty good we went on a route that took use through the forest and heath land.

Here are some of my favourite snaps of the day (I took soo many - it was a perfect snapping opportunity!)

Sweet smile for a sweet girl

Look at that pout!

A free Sunday.

Yesterday was a brilliant day with my little family. What was extra wonderful about the day was that it didn't cost us a penny!

The day started off with a home made picnic at the park next to the Mere. A perfect place to spot the ducks.

We then wondered into town, we got some coupons for two free coffee's at Costa's, so we went and treated ourselves to a Mocha and a shortbread (we used our Costa loyalty card points). Gotta love freebies!

We then decided to go back to the park for some play time...

It was such a lovely day, completely relaxing and lots of fun! Its a very photo heavy post, and I'm so annoyed with myself for forgetting my Cannon!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

Look what I found in Next...

If you remember as while ago I wrote about wanting to get a Teepee for Darcie's new room (see my post HERE) but all the ones I found were rather pricey. So, as you can imagine, when the new Next Autumn/Winter  catalogue was on my door step I got VERY excited when I saw this!

This beautiful play tent is in the Teepee style and the colours are perfect for her room. I was even more happy when I saw the price, £35! A massive saving compared the ones in my other post! They also do a wonderful version for boys too.

I can just picture this in her new room with her and her Daddy sat in there reading books.

Happy Friday everyone.

My Happy Place, Polzeath

I love Cornwall. In particular Polzeath.

When I think of where would I like to go to get away from it all my immediate thought is here. I have so many wonderful memories from my childhood and also more recent trips there. I have yet to share this special place with Darcie, but I hope we can take her there soon.

There is something so special about this place, I love everything about it. The scenery, the people, the pace of life is all what I like and need!

Here are some pictures from my last visit in 2010, which was far too long ago and I need to go back ASAP!!

Where is your happy place??

Kérastase Styling Lift Vertige Review

Kérastase Styling Lift Vertige -  RRP. £23.00

I was recently sent Kérastase Styling Lift Vertige to review and this week I have been putting it to the test. My first thoughts when I received the product was that the packaging was nice, but when is saw the description "Root-uplifting gel" I did raise my eyebrows as I have never been fond of any gel formula products.

On closer inspection I read on, it states that it has a heat protecting agent and best to apply to damp hair and then blow dry lifting the roots with a brush. So that morning that's what I did, I then went on to curl my hair.

I was amazed with the amount of volume that had been created, it also made the curls more defined with added "oomph". On days where I had decided not to wash my hair, and my hair was still curly from the day before I added a tiny bit of the product to the curls and it brought them back to life, without that horrible stiffness!

(This was taken at the end of a very hot day the only product used was this product - I'm impressed!)

The price?  £23.00 (I have seen it  slightly cheaper) It is a bit on the high side, but you only need a small amount of this product and so it will last a fairly long time. I like how its almost a three in one product,  adds volume near the roots, a heat protectant and adds more definition to curls. I'm a happy girl and think I would purchase once I have run out!

What's your one hair product you couldn't live without?

Scentsy Buddy, Ollie the Elephant - Review

As you already know I'm a big fan of Scentsy, to find out more about the brand read my post HERE

So for Darcie's birthday she received a wonderful gift in the shape of  Ollie the Elephant, a Scentsy Buddy with the scent pack of Paradise Punch. These gorgeous cuddly toys are perfect for little ones, Darcie LOVES cuddly toys and Ollie is one of her favourites! I have to admit this IS my favourite of Darcie's cuddly's as it makes her whole room smell amazing, without it being overpowering that she doesn't want to snuggle.

There is a whole range of different Buddies to choose from, also there is a wide range of scent packs that you can buy to change the way your buddy smells. I currently have my eye on Newborn Nursery Scent pak and also Sweet pea and Vanilla Scent pak, they look amazing and perfect for a little ones room!

I have herd a lot of Mums swear that by combining the French Lavender Scent pak you can create the perfect conditions to help with a child's sleep and bedtime routine, which I would love to put to the test!

The price of these are a little steep, but as I have completely taken to the whole Scentsy idea, I think they are completely worth it, I mean who doesn't want their house to smell amazing?! The Buddies RRP at £25 but selected ones are currently £20, the Paks are also priced at £7 but often they run offers so it is worth keeping your eye out!

My consultant is my lovely friend Hayley, her website is HERE. If you are interested in finding out more about Scentsy Hayley is the person you need to speak with!

UPDATE Hayley contacted me last night to let me know that the buddies come with a free Pak and that at the moment they are priced at an amazing £15!!!

13 Month Update

It feels like an age since I did one of these updates, I don't think I did one when she turned one I got too caught up with the celebrations! SO here goes a little up date on Miss Burgess's progress...

* WALKER - She walked properly one week after her birthday, its crazy to see her running around now! She gets up to even more mischief!

*Cows milk - We moved Darcie on to cows milk because the formula she had was constantly out of stock and was always a mission to find. So we decided we would try, and she took to it straight away!

*Can use a fork(ish) - I say ish because she is quite picky when she uses it!

*New Words - Well to be honest she comes out with a new word everyday. Her vocabulary is growing at such a fast rate! Here are some of my favourite...

"Jake" (and the neverland pirates)
"Bubbles"
"What"
"Yes"
"Bottle"
"Drink"
"Brum Brum" (well its more a noise but she uses it when she sees fast cars and bikes)
"Hello"
"See ya"

And my favourite...

"Luf you"

Its funny even though she is changing daily, there isn't really much "new" things to report. We have her one year review coming up were she will get weighed and talk about her development but to be honest I have no concerns whatsoever. She is perfect in every single way!

"Luf you Darcie"
